Great opportunity for an artist to make a difference in the lives of people with disabilities!

Part Time - approximately 6 hours/week
$33 per hour
2 late afternoon/evening classes per week
Location: 800 Friedens Road, St. Charles, MO

 Purpose: Empower and encourage artists with intellectual and developmental disabilities to explore their creativity and bring their artistic ideas to life.

Qualifications: At least one year of experience teaching art in a classroom or similar instructional setting preferred. Comparable experience working in creative or educational environments will be considered.  Note:  Painting is primary type of artistry.

Requirements:
  • Ability to provide visual and physical guidance and support for adult artists with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
  • Ability to read, comprehend, write and speak effectively and professionally in English
  • Ability to see and hear sufficiently to complete job tasks.
  • Model and maintain a positive, supportive, productive environment.
  • Successfully pass all required background checks and drug screenings.

Core Responsibilities:
  1. Develop and deliver engaging painting lessons for various skill levels using various mediums.
  2. Adapt instructional methods to meet individual learning needs and encourage creative confidence.
  3. . Ensure all necessary supplies and materials are available prior to class.
  4. Prepare materials, set up classroom spaces, and maintain an organized, safe, and inspiring art environment.
  5. Demonstrate proper use and care of art tools and materials, including but not limited to paint, brushes, canvases, and solvents.
  6. Manage time effectively to ensure class sessions progress from instruction to guided practice and critique.
  7. Foster an inclusive, supportive atmosphere that encourages experimentation and creativity.
  8. Provide constructive feedback and individualized coaching to help students refine technique and artistic vision.
  9. Use positive reinforcement to build confidence and inspire continued artistic development.
  10.  Participate and support artists before, during and after art shows.
  11.  Track attendance, student progress, and inventory of supplies.
